Job Description

We are hiring for a rock star payroll specialist! The payroll specialist needs to be driven and can work with urgency. The team is diverse, social and operational.

The payroll specialist will be responsible for processing weekly in house payroll for roughly 500 employees.

Weekly responsibilities include:

  • closing payroll, validate timekeeping, processing commissions, reconciling and posting reporting.
  • Garnishments, direct deposits and payroll clean up.
  • Second half of the week will be new hire set up, union dues, clean up for previous week and set up for next week.

Qualifications include:

  • In-house Payroll processing
  • Multi state - understands regulations and laws
  • Multiple collective bargaining units/Union Payroll
  • High volume and deadline driven (500+ employees per week)
  • Excel - v lookups

This position is great for a Payroll professional who wants to truly "own" payroll for 100 employees- taxes, garnishments, employee communication!  You will be the only payroll professional at this company with the support of an accounting team behind you.  This role entails processing semi-monthly payroll and all that goes with that including preparing weekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end payroll reports.


Experience Needed:

  • 3+ years of payroll experience

  • Garnishments, taxes and payroll reporting

  • Excellent communication to assist with employee questions

  • Current knowledge of payroll laws

Mulberry Talent Partners has joined with our client to identify a Payroll & Benefits Specialist for their Tigard office. The ideal candidate will have experience with multi-state payroll, timekeeping, benefits administration, and ADP Workforce.


Responsibilities at a glance:

  • Prepare and enter bi-weekly payroll information into ADP

  • Contact various department managers and supervisors for any missed punches on time keeping system and approving timecards in the ADP time keeping system

  • Prepare all reconciliations related to each payroll

  • Process after hours pay, damaged good commissions, sales bonuses and commissions for entry into the payroll system

  • Keep current on payroll laws for all applicable jurisdictions

  • Prepare and file quarterly Multiple-Site report

  • Prepare quarterly state of Washington L&I return for payment of Worker’s Comp premiums

  • Process paperwork for health and welfare plans including enrollments and terminations company wide. Benefit plans include: 401(k) plan, medical/dental plan, LTD, Life, FMLA, Flexible Spending and Voluntary Insurance. Processes documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record keeping and proper payroll deductions

  • Processes monthly billings from insurance providers. Reconciles and reviews billings for accuracy, codes and prepares check requests for payment

  • Assist Human Resources Manager with bi-annual and annual open enrollment periods for all benefits; i.e. Health & Dental insurance, 401(k), Flexible Spending Accounts, Voluntary Insurance

  • Track and file annual reviews

  • Process garnishments

  • Prepare and send out annual ACA 1094 and 1095 reports

  • Participate in payroll and 401(k) audits

  • Respond to employee requests and concerns via telephone and email in a courteous and professional manner


Required Qualifications & Experience:


  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience performing payroll and benefits administration

  • ADP Workforce experience required

  • High School Diploma and college courses completed in accounting

  • Ability to act with discretion and maintain confidential information

  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Multi-state payroll experience (California, Washington, Oregon)

  • Demonstrated ability to provide a high level of customer service
