Payroll Manager

Our client has an immediate need for a detailed Payroll Manager to join their team. 

Full time, direct hire.

This role 

is responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately, on time, and in compliance with all company policies and relevant regulations, including federal and state employment and tax laws.

  • Prepare, review, process and pay employees per company payroll guidelines, interfacing with other departments as needed to ensure accurate and timely pay schedules are met
  • Ensure calculation, payment, and reconciliation of payroll liabilities and mandatory deductions, including federal and state income taxes, employee and employer social security payments, union dues, employer-paid benefits, workers compensation, as well as voluntary payroll deductions
  • Manage ACA processes, remain educated on current ACA related tax and communication obligations
  • Prepare payroll reports
  • Process and comply with all garnishment actions which include child support, tax levies, etc.
  • Ensure payroll processes and payroll-related workflows meet agency needs, collaborating with senior management as needed to develop, implement, monitor, resolve issues, and continuously improve the overall payroll system
  • Provide support for all internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Train designated payroll processing “backup” support staff on payroll processing methods and changes
  • Participate in organizational initiatives and special projects related to payroll, accounting, and financial operation
  • Create and update work instructions for all payroll processes
  • Maintain PTO balances for employees according to company policy and/or Collective Bargaining Agreement requirements 
  • Run reports and collect data for Quarterly tax filings
  • Actively engage in ongoing education on payroll, tax and ULTIPRO related changes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and direct payroll experience
  • 5+ years of full cycle Payroll processing experience (supervisory preferred)
  • Capable of dealing with confidential information with discretion and tact
  • Ability to drive process changes and navigate approval requirements in a productive and collaborative manner, inviting and educating others while meeting deadlines and achieving necessary results
  • Intermediate skill level in MS Word and MS Excel 
  • Effectively navigate payroll/HRIS software (UltiPro a big plus)

Position Details

The Payroll Specialist at ConMet is responsible for a variety of Payroll duties supporting our offices and manufacturing facilities across the United States. In addition, this specialist may also have the opportunity to support our corporate Human Resources team with employee benefits, compliance audits, and document filing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:

Payroll

  • Prepare and process weekly payroll for domestic employees (United States).
  • Perform data entry related to employee maintenance (New Hire, Status changes, terminations, schedule changes, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate records of payroll documentation and transactions.
  • Report payroll data to Executive Team Members to provide insight used for both analysis and future decisions.
  • Enter, monitor, and respond to garnishments and wage attachments.
  • Assist Payroll Manager in essential functions including HRIS Administration, the development of customized reports, and tax reconciliation.

 

Employee Benefits

  • Data Entry of benefits enrollment data into appropriate databases in conjunction with existing time deadlines.
  • Perform audit on benefits reports for the Benefits Manager
  • Maintain Employee files
  • Assist with management of information contained multiple benefits databases.

 

Human Resources / Other

  • Work directly with various internal ConMet customers to facilitate department-wide goals
  • Assist with ESOP retirement document filing / retention
  • Assist with audit of 401k reports.
  • Occasionally assist other corporate HR team members in areas such as recruiting, new hire onboarding and talent development

 

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Certifications:

  • Three (3) or more years of Payroll experience with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree OR Five (5) or more years of Payroll experience with a high school diploma or equivalent required
  • Two (2) or more years of experience processing a multi-state payroll with more than 1,000 employees required
  • Human Resources and/or Benefits experience preferred
  • HCM/HRIS experience preferred
  • UltiPro (Ultimate Software) experience preferred
  • CPP/FPC Certification preferred
